[new_royalslider id=”30″] To the disappointment of many, the hyped up combination of the Air Jordan V Grape/Laney Pack most probably will not come true, not this year at least.  Instead, Air Jordan will be rereleasing the Air Jordan V Grapes on May 4th for $160 ($115 for GS sizes).  The AJ5 Grapes are a shoe very dear to me as some of you may already know based on what is written on our about section.  I’m including a slideshow of the 2006 release below, so take a look and let us know where the Grapes rank among your must-haves for 2013.

UPDATE: Examiner article April 16, 2013 by Addison Sandoval

The release of the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” is impending and if you are looking to purchase a pair, now is the time to make the necessary arrangements. Inquiring at your local authorized Nike/Jordan store to see if they will be receiving any pairs and what the process is on how to obtain them is the best way to start.

The shoes will also be available online at authorized Jordan dealers, but because this is such a high profile release that is expected to sell out quickly, it is best to have your purchasing options clear and planned out ahead of time. The official release date for the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” is May 4, 2013 and the sneakers will retail for $160 in men’s sizes and $115 in grade school sizes.

One of the main reasons surrounding the hype of the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” is that it has only been released twice since Jordan brand first introduced it. The last year it was released was in 2006 and it sold out within minutes. Additionally, the emerald grape and ice blue color-way of this particular Air Jordan 5 is reminiscent of 90’s era lifestyle, a culture Michael Jordan helped define.

Although Michael Jordan never wore the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” in a game, the sneakers graced his feet on the cover of the Air Jordan Flight Collection look-book from 1990. Important to note is that Jordan brand has decided to pair the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” with its fraternal twin: the “Black Grape”, by releasing the latter in the later part of this year, not long after the “Grape” release.
